Using data from federal health agencies Health.com has identified the 10 states with the highest rates of depression, psychological distress and other indicators of poor mental health.
Here they are, in alphabetical order:
Arkansas
Indiana
Kentucky
Michigan
Mississippi (poorest state,highest rate of depression in the nation)
Missouri
Nevada (1 in 11 residents)
Oklahoma (bottom five)
Tennessee
West Virginia (next to last)
