5yr old terrorist

A 5 year old girl was suspended from kindergarten for telling a classmate she was going to shoot her with a toy gun. The Mount Carmel Area Elementary School suspended the girl for 10 days for making a "terroristic threat". the punishment was later reduced to 2 days suspension. The girls family has hired a lawyer and is fighting the suspension. The article then asks, in wake of the Sandy Hook shooting is the schools reaction appropriate or does the suspension  go to far?

The "gun" this little girl was "threatening" with is a plastic Hello Kitty gun that shoots bubbles. Thats right Bubbles. In my opinion the suspension is going to far. The girl is 5 years old and most likely doesnt even understand the concept of shooting someone to harm them. Most 5 year olds have trouble understanding death let alone harmful actions. 

At that age kids are still learning about all of that. They are learning about how their actions and feelings affect other people. Learning how to use their words and be kind with their words. 

I highly doubt the student she "threatened" was all broken up about it, crying to a teacher that this little girl threatened her with a gun, or was going to shoot her. In elementary school kids play game where they shoot each other all the time, no harm no foul. No one actually gets shot, or hurt or killed.

The school over reacted and blow things out of proportion. I could see them calling her parents and voicing their concerns in light of the Sandy Hook shooting and how her behavior or words were inappropriate. Sitting the girl down and talking to her about it. Not suspending her.

I threatened a girl in school once. I was in Junior High in California. I didn't even directly threaten this girl. I was in the locker room and stated that i wanted to shoot her (i didn't even say a name) in the face for every one of her freckles.(she had a lot of freckles). One of my friends who happened to be a mutual friend over heard me and asked who. I told her who. The next day i was called into the vice principles office and was suspended for a day,given 2 weeks detention,and i had to write the girl an apology. The girl who over heard me went home and told her mother what i said and she called the girls mother who then called the school and threw a fit. 

Thats at the age of 13 that i was suspended a day and given detention, and the written apology. This little girl is 5 and she was suspended longer than i was. 

Is this really what the world is coming to? that we are going to push kids who play shooting games? 

What next? Are we going to stop manufacturing gun toys? water guns? super soakers? paint ball guns? bubble guns? suction cup dart guns?

We all just need to calm down with the gun thing. The girl was 5. Give her a break.

Prostitutes Further Education for World Cup

Huffington Post reports, Brazilian prostitues are learning English to prepare for major soccer events. Prostitutes in one of Brazil's biggest cities, Sao Paulo, are beginning to sign up for free English classes ahead of this year's Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.

 Prostitution is legal in Brazil. 

Cida Vieira, president of the Association of Prostitutes in the city of Belo Horizonte, says that its important for the women to learn English, they need to know what turns their clients on and to let their clients know how much they charge. 

The association is currently looking for volunteers to teach these classes. They wont have any problem with that. Vieira has already stated that there are already several volunteer psychologists and doctors helping them. They are now thinking about adding free French and Italian classes as well.

I say more power to them. If they are going to sign up for an 8 month course to learn a different language so they can be better at their jobs, good for them. That is dedication to the job if you ask me. They are furthering their education, and expanding their language abilities. 

In the US it will be a big deal because it prostitutes but who cares? The only reason the story wont be all over the news is because the women are preparing for soccer events. In the US soccer is not a main priority, they'd rather suffocate us with basketball.  I think its great that they are volunteering to learn English. Good for them. I applaud the effort.

Now any English speaking person that decides to go to Brazil for the Confederations Cup or the World cup (or both) wont have to ask a translator or use a translator to get some nookie while they are there. Cross your fingers, French and Italian speakers might get the same pleasure!
